Most people underestimate Istanbul and are then surprised. The city operates at a pace and a density that takes three days just to calibrate — by which point most itineraries have it as a two-night prelude to a beach. This is the wrong structure.
Beyoğlu and Sultanahmet are not interchangeable. Where you base yourself shapes what Istanbul you encounter. The correct stay is Beyoğlu-adjacent, with intentional visits to the old city — not the reverse. Cappadocia works best as a standalone destination, not tacked onto a city break.
